Spirt Airlines is a US low-fare airline. It started flying in 1990 as a charter operator named Charter One from Detroit, but it soon also started scheduled services. The name Spirit Airlines was adopted in 1992. Today the main bases of the airline are Detroit and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood in Florida, from where many services to Central America are offered. Spirit's workhorse is the Airbus A319, but also a small number of Airbus A321's are in service. The photograph shows an Airbus A319 taxiing at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
